About Zodiac Baby
A site about the twelve signs, written for the people holding the smallest possible version of one of them.
Zodiac Baby reads the zodiac for babies and young children. The twelve signs give parents a vivid language for the temperament already arriving through their child: the pace, spark, sensitivity and way of meeting the world.
Who it is for
Parents, grandparents, godparents and anyone else who has recently found themselves responsible for a person with no vocabulary and very strong opinions. The writing assumes an adult reader and it assumes affection. It assumes you want to understand the child in front of you more deeply.
The zodiac has always offered families a way to recognise difference with warmth rather than judgment. Here, that recognition becomes a practical companion for the small, intense and unforgettable years of childhood.
What you will find
Twelve readings, one for each sign, each following the same child from the first year through toddlerhood to the school gate. Most zodiac writing treats a person as a single fixed thing. A two year old and a six year old of the same sign are recognisably related and completely different to live with, so the readings are written in stages.
Alongside them, the everyday: the hours where temperament actually shows up. Bedtime. The meltdown in the shop. The toy that held them for four minutes. Family life with a sibling who is nothing like them. And the basics of the sky, for when you want to know what the words mean before you use them.
How the signs are used here
A sign is a living astrological key to temperament. The zodiac has preserved twelve distinct patterns of energy for centuries, and each one gives a richer way to see the child who is already making their nature known.
So a reading here is written the way you would describe a person you know well: specific, affectionate and willing to name the difficult parts as well as the gifts. When the sky itself needs explaining, such as why the dates move by about a day, we explain the actual mechanism.
Care that belongs elsewhere
Zodiac Baby speaks about symbolic temperament, not medical or developmental care. If a child needs professional attention, seek the appropriate support; that guidance belongs with the people responsible for their care.
Who writes it
Two people with genuinely different angles on the same material: the Zodiac Baby Editorial Circle. It brings together astrological tradition, myth, family observation and the living texture of childhood, with Nell Ashcombe and Theo Marsden available as individual voices where their distinct work is useful. How they work is set out in the editorial policy, and anything that turns out to be wrong can be sent to us through corrections.
Start somewhere
If you know the sign, go straight to the twelve. If you are not sure which one is yours, the same page starts with the month your child was born. And if the question tonight is much more specific than all of that, the nights are usually where people begin.
