You & Them
The Libra parent
Venus gives you a house where everybody is heard and nobody is shouted at. Your children grow up expecting to be treated fairly. What they sometimes wait a long time for is somebody to simply decide.

The parent you already are
Your children are treated fairly, and they know it.
Venus in Libra gives you a genuine instinct for the other side of things. You ask both children what happened. You notice when one of them has been carrying an unfair share. You do not humiliate anybody, and you do not raise your voice to settle a thing that talking could settle. Children raised like this arrive at school with an unusually developed sense of justice and a real expectation of being listened to.
You are also good company. Not entertaining exactly: present. You will get down on the floor and be there for the ordinary part, which is the thing Libra, Leo, Cancer and Pisces children need more than any activity you could plan.
The hour that tests you
It is the moment somebody has to be disappointed.
You can see all of it at once, which is your gift, and it means the decision keeps not getting made. The bedtime slides. The rule bends because the resistance was tiring. The difficult conversation waits for a better moment that does not arrive.
Fire children read a soft boundary as an invitation and push harder. Earth children need the rule to be the same rule. Fixed children, of any element, will take the edge you did not hold and keep it.
The second thing is subtler. You would like your child to like you, and most of the time they do. But the parent who is always pleasant is also a parent who is slightly absent from the hard part, and children can feel that even when they cannot say it.
What to do with that
Decide out loud, in one sentence, and accept being unpopular for ten minutes. The relief on their faces is real, and it arrives faster than you expect.
Let them see a disagreement between adults that gets repaired. This is the single most valuable thing you can model, because your instinct is to hide the conflict, and a hidden conflict teaches a child that anger means something is being broken.
And ask them what they want, in two options, every day. You are raising children who will otherwise be as accommodating as you are, and it is a lovely quality that costs a great deal if nobody ever asks them to name a preference.
What you carry into the room
What you give without trying
- Fairness that children can feel. Grievances get heard in your house, and both sides get asked.
- A calm atmosphere. You lower the temperature of a room by walking into it, which several signs here depend on completely.
- Real company. You will sit on the floor and be with them rather than managing them from the doorway.
Where you catch
- Postponing the unpopular decision until somebody else makes it or the moment passes.
- Boundaries that move depending on how much resistance they meet.
- Needing to be liked by your own child, which is the quickest route to a house with no edges in it.
You, with each of the twelve
Twelve children, twelve different weathers between you. Find yours, and then read them in full.
-
Your opposite sign, and they will test the edges of every rule you have not fully committed to. This child is not happier when they win; they are happier when they meet a wall. Decide fast, say it once, and let the storm be short rather than negotiating it away.
-
Venus rules you both and the house is warm and pleasant. They are far more immovable than you are, so the standoffs are theirs to hold and yours to avoid creating. Give the warning in something they can watch approaching, and do not swap their fixed things.
-
Air and air, and the talking is constant and delightful. You will both avoid the difficult conversation with real skill. Somebody has to hold the line on bedtime, and it is you. Give them two choices rather than an open field, because the field exhausts you both.
-
Both of you would rather nobody was upset, and that is exactly how an unspoken atmosphere builds. Have the disagreement where they can see it and then let them see the repair. Keep the goodbye ritual identical and this child will thrive with you.
-
A charming, sociable pair. They take the floor and you are happy to give it, which is lovely until it becomes automatic. Say what you want occasionally, in front of them. Watch their performance properly, correct it privately, and hold the few rules that matter.
-
They want it done exactly and you want everybody comfortable. Their corrections are not criticism of you. Take their worry seriously for a short, definite moment and then close it, and give them one real job to own without your smoothing it over.
-
Two people waiting for the other to choose the restaurant, for eighteen years. The house is gentle and nothing gets decided. Be the adult who picks, out loud, and teach them to want something by asking what they would choose if nobody minded.
-
They do not want the compromise; they want the truth, and they will not be charmed out of a position. Your instinct to smooth reads to this child as evasion. Be plainly honest, hold the line without heat, and let them have their privacy and their own timing.
-
They say the blunt thing in front of the guests and you feel it on everyone's behalf. It is not malice. Handle the fact privately and the timing separately, and keep your promises about going out literal, because this child remembers.
-
They want to know who is in charge, and a wobbling boundary makes them anxious rather than pleased. Be consistent even when it is uncomfortable. Say the plan, keep to it, and tell them clearly that the adults have got this so they can put it down.
-
Air and air, and they will argue principle with you at five years old and occasionally be right. Give the reason rather than the rule. They are unbothered by whether you are liked, which is medicine for you and slightly bracing on a tired day.
-
Both of you absorb the mood of a room, which makes for a tender house and not much of a floor. Be the edge in their day: the visible countdown, the shorter outing, the earlier quiet. Take the imaginary life seriously and ask about it.
